Summer Gel Nail Look

June 19, 2017

As i'm sure a lot of you know, I'm a huge lover having my nails done as i'm never without a fresh set of acrylics or a fresh coat of gel nails, but being able to redo my nails at home just takes the stress away from having to fit in a nail appointment around my hectic schedule. Today I thought i'd share my current go to nail look, with a little bit of help from Nadia Gel.
A few weeks back in my May Favourites I featured a new product that i'd really been enjoying from Nadia Gel, and I thought i'd do a little bit of a series and show you how i've been using this product before doing a full review in a few weeks time!

As I mentioned in my favourites post, i've had the Nadia Gel HNC Gel Starter Kit* ($99.99) now for a good few weeks and i've really been enjoying using this to change up my nail looks in-between nail appointments, as well as also giving my toe nails a lick of paint especially as the weather is beautiful at the moment, meaning it's sandal weather.

Within this kit, it comes with five different colours of which are all so wearable and are totally up my street, and all of the polishes have a versatility to be worn together. I usually opt for having an accent nail, of which has a different colour to the rest of my nails to add a nice touch to my nail look, and I usually opt for a glitter of some description because I love being that little bit extra!

Typically I will soak off the gel colour that I currently have on my nails, and then give my nails a little file to neaten them up as acrylic nails do need a bit of tlc in between nail appointments. This kit comes with a rose cuticle oil, which is an absolute liver saver as acrylics can sometimes damage your cuticles, so this just helps to restore them and hydrate them like a body oil would. For this nail look I chose to go with one of the pink shades, and the silver glitter for my accent nail as I just loved the combination of colours, especially for summer!

Similarly to most gel nails, you essentially apply a base coat and cure that with the LED lamp, apply x 2 coats of colour, curing in-between each coat and finishing off with a top coat to set it all in place. Sounds a bit long winded, but it's so easy and it makes gel nails at home so easy to achieve, with a salon finish quality!

If you're wanting to try gel nails at home, i'd highly recommend trying out an at home kit especially if you love to have your nails done but don't have enough time to fit in nail appointments every few weeks!

What are your favourite nail polishes?
