The Best of 2013: Skincare

This year i’ve decided to do a ‘Best of 2013’ series, where I go through my favourite products from different categories from the past year and the first part is skincare. Since starting my blog up just over a year a go, i’ve learnt so much about skincare to the point where I now take my skincare routine very seriously and without it my skin would probably be a right mess.

L’oreal Micellar Solution – Boots (£3.33), Bioderma Micelle Solution – Boots (£14.50), Origins GinZing Moisturiser – Boots (£23), Hydraluron – Boots (£16.66), Origins Drink Up 10-Minute Mask – Boots (£22), Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm – Nuxe (£9.50)

I have narrowed it down to 5 products that have truly become staple products within my skincare routine and ones that will be here to stay for quite some time.

Miccelar Solutions – After the massive hype over Bioderma, I think every beauty blogger tried out the L’oreal Miccelar Solution which to this day I still love to use to remove my makeup before cleansing. Since then I have delved into the world of Bioderma and you can see why a lot of people love it. I use in the same way as the L’oreal version, but I just find that it melts my makeup away and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or tight like the L’oreal one can at times. All in all I think i’ve found my replacement to makeup wipes, even though I may be guilty to using them every now and then.

Origins Ginzing™ Moisturiser – I finally took the plunge and ordered this product a couple of months back and I cannot explain how much I enjoy using this moisturiser. I love that it gives my skin the energising boost it needs in the morning by hydrating my skin and making it instantly feel, and appear more awake. Not to mention the scent of zesty oranges that hits when you first open it up and lingers whilst it sinks into the skin. An all round amazing moisturiser in my eyes.

Hydraluron – This product is one that I haven’t had for all that long but is one that I instantly knew was here to stay after just a few uses. I apply this just before my moisturiser as a serum, which works with my moisturiser to hydrate the skin without making it oily. I just love how it keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day and it has helped to keep my dry patches at bay over the past few weeks, which is a miracle as every product I tried seem to irritate it more. Even though this has quite a big price tag it is definitely worth the money and a product that I would repurchase again and again.

Origins Drink Up 10-Minute Mask – Again another product that I haven’t had that long, but was my first delve into the face mask world and one that i’m so happy with. I’ve been using this once or twice a week, mainly in the evenings to give my skin a good detox to clean away any nasties and to give it a nice burst of hydration that my skin is normally in need of after a long hectic day or week! As this a 10 minute mask it works pretty quickly, doesn’t dry into the skin and doesn’t take a decade to take off, it’s quick and simple which is exactly what I love about it.

Nuxe Reve De Miel Lipbalm – This product is one that i’m calling my miracle product of the year. As I have mentioned before I suffer from really severe dry lips, especially during the colder months and after a long quest it feels like I have found the cure to my dry lips. This lip balm, as pricey as it is, is worth every single penny. It’s thick creamy zesty scented formula coats my lips and works to moisturise the dry skin whilst acting like a barrier from the cold, harsh air and it lasts so long on the lips. Even though i’ve only been using this for a short amount of time, my lips haven’t been in this good of condition in a long time!

What skincare products did you enjoy using in 2013?
