CYO Cosmetics: First Impressions

When it comes to beauty I am a budget kind of girl and I rarely splash out on high end products, unless it’s a foundation that I absolutely love or a cleanser that removes my makeup like no other. Being a blogger it has opened my eyes and knowledge up to new brands, brands I probably wouldn’t know about if I didn’t blog and I thought i’d share my thoughts on CYO Cosmetics, a recent budget brand discovery that I have been loving.

CYO is a brand that i’ve seen here and there, but more so recently and I personally love what they stand for as they’re all about you creating your own look and experiencing change and experimentation through makeup, which I think is really empowering for a brand especially one that is pro you doing you. They very kindly me over a range of their products to try, of which I was really intrigued to try out as they have such an array of products, and i’m thrilled with everything they sent over.

Starting off with probably my three favourite products because they give all the shimmer vibes and we all know that us gals love a bit of glow. Now i’m not usually a primer gal, I just don’t have time for that but i’ve been adding the Illuminating Mixing Cream* (£6) into my foundation to work as a primer but to also give a more dewy finish that i’m absolutely living for at the moment. I really like how you can apply this with your foundation, instead of it being another step in your makeup routine, and the glow it gives is just stunning.

For the eyes they sent a couple of different products to try, both of which are in my everyday favourite golden bronze shade. For days when i’m in a bit of a rush the Metallic Eye Stick* (£4.50) in the shade ‘Clowning Around’ has become so handy as you can literally apply this all over your lid, blend it out a bit and you’re good to go. For when i’ve got a little more time to experiment more with my eye look i’ve been adding the Metallic Eyeshadow* (£4.50) in the shade ‘College Crush’ which is absolutely stunning and the metallic running through this just makes your eyes pop.

The remainder of the products that they sent over were all lip products, and the choice of different formulas/shades was enough to excite any lipstick lover. The first lip product I tried out was the Night Feed Overnight Lip Primer* (£4) which is a product that i’ve never heard or come across before but let me tell you my lips have not felt or looked softer for a long time, and it makes for a great base when applying lipstick. Out of all of the lip products they sent, my favourite has got to be the Two Clever By Half Lipstick & Liner* (£5.50) which is essentially a duo end product with a liner and lipstick, meaning you’ve got two products in one which is genius! Another of their lip products which has really intrigued me is the Two Tone Twist Ombre Lipstick* (£5) which is a cheat way of achieving the ombre lip look, now I personally am not a beauty trend girl but for those who like to experiment and love an ombre lip look then you’re bound to love this!

The last two lip products are your all time classic kind of lip products, of which they do in a really good range of shades so no doubt you’ll find one to suit you. Their Colour Nutrition Moisturising Lipstick* (£5) has a beautiful creamy formula that work to moisturise the lips, instead of drying them out, which I think is fab and although they are super pigmented they’re also stain free which for me is the biggest bane of my life when it comes to lipsticks. On the flip side their Take a Shine Lip Gloss* (£4) has more of sheer pigmentation and finish to it, but if you’re a lipgloss lover then you’ll definitely enjoy this as it’s not sticky like some lipgloss’s and the added shine adds a little something extra.
