Today i’m kicking it old school blogging style with another Valentines beauty edit, as I find I share a post similar to this every year but, I also take it as an opportunity to show some products that i’ve been loving recently. As part of my savings plans for 2020 (more on this in a blog post soon), i’ve been shopping my stash more and using products that I haven’t used for a while, and so far i’m doing fairly well.
Some beauty picks for Valentines day!
Now for me, Valentines isn’t a holiday i’ll be celebrating this year as I am as single as single gets and all of my gal pals have upped sticks to London. So I will be enjoying a single evening in on my own, with my hair on top of my head, watching Love Island no doubt. But for those out there that are celebrating Valentines and are wanting to get a little bit dolled up, here are some beauty bits I’ve recently been enjoying.
Base Products
Starting off with a few base products that I would really recommend, especially if you’re looking for a medium to fuller coverage look. Now primer isn’t a product I use to be completely honest, but I have found my skin has been slightly on the dry side recently and I’ve found the Lancome La Base Hydra Glow Primer* (£29) has really helped to stop my foundation drying into certain areas of my skin. It’s really light on the skin and applies very nicely, whilst soaking in almost instantly so you can get on with applying your foundation. Speaking of foundation, we all know how much I love the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (£34). I won’t rant and rave on, but this for me is my go to and I doubt i’ll be featuring any other foundation anytime soon.
Cheek Products
For contour/highlight, I’ve recently been reaching for the Tarte Pro Glow to Go Palette (£19) as my beloved filmstar bronze and glow has finally bit the dust. I picked this up a few years ago when I was in Australia and to be honest, I’ve barely used this. I know you’re not meant to use makeup products after a year but this palette cost enough, so I’m going to get my use out of it. I find this palette to be super handy, especially if you’re on the go as it fits in any handbag but I also really like both the contour and highlight shades in this palette. For blush, I’ve recently gone back to using more cream blushers as I find that they give a slight dewiness to my makeup look. The Lancome Cream Blush Stick* (£27) is one that i’ve had in my stash for quite some time, but have never really given much of a chance and since using it more, I’ve come to find that I really like this!
Eye Products
For eyeshadow, my choices of palettes doesn’t really change all that much but I have found myself experimenting and mixing different palettes together to create newer eye looks. My two go to’s at the minute are the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette (£34.40) and also the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette (£25). I find the shades within these palettes, although different work so well together to create a warmer yet darker eye look! As for mascara, I’ve recently gone back to an old favourite of mine. The Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara* (£22) is one that I’ve loved for a few years now and I always find myself going back to this mascara as it is amazing for making your lashes look so volumised!
Lips
Onto the last part of your makeup and probably my favourite part, lip products! For me I don’t really switch things up in terms of lip products but seeing as this post is more of a Valentines beauty look, I thought i’d share two lips shades that would look amazing for Valentines! One of my favourite go to lipsticks is the Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick* (£27) and I love love love the shades Rose Nu and Caprice! One pretty pink nude shade, and one true vibrant red shade!
So those are my picks for this Valentines day! If you’re stuck for gifting ideas, make sure you check out my gift guide from last year, as I’ve not managed to put a gift guide together this year.
