The weather the last couple of days has got me really trying to hold onto the last bit of Summer before the cosy Autumn evenings roll in and gone are the light evenings. It’s been a little while since I shared some more fashion based content with you and through the warmer months I’ve really enjoyed experimenting a little more by introducing new colours into my wardrobe, and this year styling summer blue tones have been my go to!
Summer blue wardrobe additions, and how I’m styling them..
Typically my style doesn’t sway away much from your typical black, white and the odd bit of denim. The most ‘out there’ prints for me are your typical polka dot or leopard print, which suits me just fine as it’s what I like and feel comfortable in, but it also doesn’t harm to once in a while step out of your comfort zone. A big trend this summer has been the pastel pops that we’ve seen all over Instagram. The beautiful lavender and mint tones, but then also the pops of summer blues and pink has really got me wanting to add a bit of colour to my wardrobe, whilst also still feeling comfortable and myself. This leads me onto to introduce you all to Katch Me, a fashion brand who is relatively new to me but they have so many beautiful pieces. If like me you’re looking for some last minute summer pieces, then i’d really recommend checking them out as they are super affordable and so on trend!
Summer Blue Gingham Playsuit
Enter the first piece of summer blue that I want to share with you! This beautiful Blue Puff Sleeve Gingham Playsuit* (£16.99) for me is my ultimate summer piece, as it’s super cute but it’s also super versatile, as it can be worn for so many different occasions!
I initially picked this piece because gingham print is something i’ve wanted to try for a little while. It’s similar to polka dot in that it’s simple, easy to wear, but adds a little something to an outfit to make that little more interesting. This playsuit actually comes in a couple of colours, but when I saw it in this summer blue colour I was sold!
As well as the summer blue colour, I really liked all of the little details to this playsuit. The puff sleeves are so on trend, as i’m sure you’ve seen every brand putting a puff sleeve on anything and everything that they can, but this playsuit really suits the puff sleeve and I just love how cute they look. I also really liked the tie detail over your chest, and what is also great is that you can get away with not wearing a bra with this as the bow allows you tie it to suit you, keeping your girls in place!
It’s made of a really light linen style fabric, which makes it super light for the warmer days that we seem to be having at the moment, but it’s also super comfortable and doesn’t make you feel clammy like some polyester based fabrics can do. The shorts section is also lined, meaning you don’t have to work about any potential underwear/VPL mishaps, which i’m sure we’ve all suffered with when it comes to a playsuit!
As I mentioned, this playsuit is great because of it’s versatility for different wearing occasions! As you can see, I’ve gone for a somewhat casual look when styling this, purely because I haven’t worn any form of heels since way before lockdown and I’ve just been loving dressing as comfortable as I possibly can! With the chunky trainer trend still going strong, I’d style this playsuit by throwing on my current go to trainers, teamed with a simple straw bag and my trusty Raybans for a cute brunch date or summery picnic with one of my gal pals!
With my Dad’s 50th birthday soon, i’m hoping the weather stays nice so I can get one more wearing occasion out of this! As well as this playsuit, Katch Me have so many playsuits, including a variety of blue puff sleeve playsuits for any occasion!
Summer Blue Polka Dot Playsuit
The second piece of summer blue that I’ve introduced into my wardrobe is another playsuit (shock, can you tell i’ve been loving playsuits at the moment?!) and this is this oh so cute Blue Spotted Tie Front Playsuit* (£6.99). How cute is this tho?!
What did I say about being a sucker for polka dots?! But seriously, if you thought I was going to stop buying polka dot pieces, then you thought wrong! My only saving grace is that I don’t own anything in a blue and black polka dot, so I thought it was about time I introduced at least one piece.
I absolutely fell in love with this playsuit when I saw it! The detailing to it is just beautiful and again so on trend for this summer. With the corset detailing on your bust, the cute tie detail at the front similar to other playsuit and the straps being elasticated, just adds another small detail to this playsuit.
The fabric of this is slightly different to the previous jumpsuit, as this is more of a polyester crepe fabric, so it’s slightly thicker but still a lovely lightweight fabric to keep you cool on a warmer summery day! It’s also a non see through fabric, so once again you can get away with not wearing a bra, but also means no underwear/VPL mishaps will be occurring when you wear this!
For me the fit of this is just lovely. I went for a size 10, and being typically a size 12 in most things I was quite surprised that this fit and looks as flattering as it does. Don’t get wrong, it’s not something i’d wear to a buffet but is perfect for a coffee date or to just chill in the sun with a glass of gin, a good book and a load of suncream!
When it comes to styling this playsuit, it’s something I would always keep quite simple as the playsuit itself does all of the talking, which is what i’ve gone for here. I’ve been loving just throwing on these black cross over sandals as they instantly pull an outfit together and the black coordinates with the black of the polka dots. Of course i’ve also styled this with my straw bag as this is my current go to summer bag for the majority of my outfits at the moment. Also can’t forget my trusty Raybans, which have gotten so much wear this summer.
If you’re not 100% sure on the blue colour, this playsuit does also come in a couple of other colours, so if you’re lucky enough to be jetting out of the UK in the coming weeks, then you need to add this into your holiday wardrobe! As well as this playsuit, Katch Me also have loads of other blue playsuits to choose from, so be sure to have a browse as i’m sure you’ll find a couple of pieces to suit your style.
So those are a few summer blue pieces that I’ve recently added into my wardrobe, and i’m hoping that we’ve still got a couple of weeks of nice weather in order for me to get some wear out of them! If not, they’ll definitely be coming out again next spring/summer!
What colours have you added into your wardrobe this summer?
