Plans For December

Today marks the first of December and just typing that is scary as hell! To think that we are nearing the end of 2020, the year that has been turned upside down and filled with some of the toughest times that the majority of us have ever been through, just leaves me feeling a sense of sombre. Having said that I am really looking forward to December and in my attempt to bring some festive cheer, I thought I’d share my plans for December.
plans for December,

Here are a few plans for December that I’m really looking forward to!

With the news that the majority of the UK has been placed under tier two and tier three measures, it has kind of put a little damper on December in the sense that we won’t be able to celebrate and catch up with some friends and family in the run up to the festive period, but that isn’t going to stop me doing festive things (within the measures) nor will it dampen my festive spirit! I thought by sharing with you my plans for December, it may give you some ideas on a few things you can do to keep your festive spirit alive this year.

Decorate for Christmas

Starting with the most obvious one, but decorating for Christmas is top of my list in my plans for December! I know many people have already put their decorations up but I always like to wait until the 1st of December, that way the novelty doesn’t wear off for me. I’m also really excited to decorate a different space this year, as sadly I won’t be able to decorate my family home this Christmas but that is not going to stop me from making my small space all festive and Christmasy! I’m hoping my next blog post will be an update on how I’ve decorated for Christmas, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Visit the Local Garden Centre

I don’t know about anyone else, but you honestly cannot beat visiting your local garden centre around Christmas time! I absolutely love nothing more than browsing all of the unique Christmas decorations and gifts that they have on display, and some garden centres really go all out! Just this weekend gone, my Mum and I tried to take a trip to our local Webbs but unfortunately the queue just to get in was over an hour long (we did go at midday on a Saturday), so instead we popped over to a slightly smaller garden centre and still had an amazing time! I even picked up some decorations to get decorating this week!

Read Christmas Reads

As you may know if you’re an avid reader, through both lockdowns I have really enjoyed my reading and that is something I will be continuing to do through December, only I will be getting stuck into a few festive reads to further heighten my festive spirit just that little more! One read that I’m excited to get stuck into is Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella (£15.63), which I actually purchased for my Mum last Christmas and now that she has read it, I’ve decided to give it a read before donating it on to someone else. I have also got my eye on a few other books, but I’m going to refrain from purchasing any until I have read the books that I have.

Visit Outdoor Christmas Light Displays

One thing that I can do in line with tier two measures, is visit some outdoor lights displays and thankfully a few local displays are still going ahead this year! One that I haven’t visited before but have heard nothing but amazing words about is Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle. Even looking at photos and videos from the previous years looks absolutely amazing, so no doubt this year will be even more special for many spectators. Another Christmas light display that is more local to the Worcestershire area is the Malvern Winter Glow, which again I’ve heard some amazing things about! Now I just need to pick which one I want to go to!

Virtual Christmas Baking with Friends/Family

Something that I enjoy doing at Christmas is a spot of festive baking and I have seen that quite a few people are putting on virtual baking classes over Christmas, which I think is just a fab idea to have some festive fun this year! I’ve already got a virtual Christmas cookie decoarting class with the Cheltenham Bloggers booked in closer to Christmas, but it is also something that you could do with your friends and family as a way to get you together virtually this Christmas! However, if baking isn’t your thing why not treat yourself or your friends/family to some festive treats? A personal favourite small business of mine is Teagles Treats who I have supported throughout 2020 and I can vouch for how incredibly yummy her amazing treats are, so why not treat yourself?
