Recent Makeup Buys & My First Impressions

During February I decided to treat myself to a little makeup splurge as a lot of my everyday makeup products we’re or had run out and it had been such a long time since I treated myself to some new makeup, so I thought I deserved it! I thought in throwback beauty blogger style, I’d share with you these recent makeup buys and my first impressions on these products, as some of them I haven’t tried before and I’m so far really impressed!

A few recent makeup buys and my first impressions on them so far!

It’s been such a long time since I did a haul style makeup post and I am feeling very nostalgic right now typing up this blog post, because I used to share these style of haul posts so much in my first few years of blogging. Since then I have really streamlined my everyday makeup to the point where I don’t really change up the products that I use because they work for me, but I have purchased a few new recent makeup buys and with some of them being quite hyped up at the moment, I thought I’d share my first impressions on them with you.

Kicking things off with a couple of products that were actually repurchases because my primer and foundation have both ran out at the same time, so I have just repurchased these again as I absolutely love them! I did previously speak about these products in my Mid Year Beauty Favourites last year and if you read that post you’ll of known how much I love these two products from Revlon. Back in the spring last year I decided that I wanted to get a new foundation that gave a good amount of coverage but felt quite light on the skin and this is where I came across the Revlon Candid Foundation (£9.99). I’ve been using this everyday (when I’ve worn makeup) since mid last year and I absolutely love it! It gives amazing coverage but it feels so much lighter on the skin than my old favourite Double Wear and it lasts so well throughout the day! As well as the foundation, I also purchased the Revlon Skinlights Face Glow Illuminator (£9.99) as a highlighter style primer and I have been using this under my foundation to give my skin that healthy dewy glow and I absolutely love how my base looks when using these two products.

Another product that I had ran out of was my concealer and unfortunately my favourite concealer wasn’t available in the shade that I liked when making my order, so I took it as the opportunity to finally try out the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Concealer (£8.99) as I have heard some amazing things about this concealer. Now you can see from the picture above how much of this I have already used, so I don’t think this is going to last me very long but the product itself is really good! It’s quite a light formula and I did think that it wouldn’t work to hide my spots and acne scarring, but it actually works so well! I could definitely do with a slightly lighter shade, so when this runs out I will be trying out a different shade but so far I am very happy with this product!

Moving onto the brows and for the longest time I had been using a really old brow gel from Rimmel to set my brows and it had gotten to the point where there was no longer any product in the bottle and I was just brushing my brows through, so I took that as a sign to get a new brow gel. I opted to go for another brow gel from Rimmel because the last one was really good, so I ordered the Rimmel Brow This Way Clear Brow Gel (£4.99) and as the name suggests this is just a clear brow gel! I just find that brushing my brows through with this just helps to set my brows, even out the product and makes them look that little bit better!

The last of my recent makeup buys is a product that has been massively hyped up recently across social media and you will have no doubt seen many people raving about the Maybelline Sky High Mascara (£9.99). Now I am awful when it comes to mascaras because I will have 3/4 on the go at one time, but that is just me and I have come to accept that this will never change! Now I purchased this mascara off the back of many people raving about it and I can fully say it is amazing! The brush is a fully plastic wand without bristles and I personally love mascaras like this because I find my lashes don’t clump together when I apply the product onto my lashes, and it just works wonders to lengthen and lift your lashes! If you’re on the look out for a new mascara, I would really recommend trying this out out!

Have you treated yourself to any recent beauty buys?
